Oral sedation allows patients to use pills and feel relaxed and calm prior to arriving at our office for their treatment or procedure. This sedation method lasts for the duration of your appointment and is suitable for patients who experience dental anxiety or other fears that prevent them from visiting the dentist.
If you’re due for a longer treatment but have a fear of the dentist, we have a board-certified anesthesiologist who can administer IV sedation. This method of sedation differs from oral sedation because it can be controlled and changed during the length of your procedure. It is also administered via IV in the arm.
Nitrous oxide is a milder form of sedation that is inhaled mixed with oxygen. The patient will feel relaxed for their treatment, and the effects of this sedation tend to wear off sooner than other forms of sedation.
